moats & boats & waterfalls.

Okay, so no boats or waterfalls, but this castle did have a moat! Beaumaris Castle was our first stop in Wales, and it's probably one of my favorite castles so far...mainly because of the moat. It's just exactly what you'd expect a castle to have, riiightt?! Anyway, we were given a great tour and after some time to explore the grounds.
During the tour we went through the castle's chapel, which we found had amaaazing acoustics. So since our fantastic bus driver, Decklin, was going to be leaving us that night, we decided to bring him into the chapel and sing the hymn "God be with you till we meet again" [one of my favorites, might I add]. After singing all three versus not only was the room ringing, but so was the Spirit. I was awed. I was amazed that the Spirit could resonate so strongly after such a simple act, but it sure did. It was beautiful with such a tender spirit; definitely a moment I won't soon forget.
Later later we went down into a slate mine, which was kind of creepy but completely informative&venturesome. [I still can't really fathom the dark, damp conditions they had to work in!]
Finally, the hostel. Now, we'd been staying in some prettyyy nice hotels and B&B's up until this point, so when the directors said it was pretty bad and it would only be for one night — yeaahh we were a little nervous. HOWEVER, it was not bad at all! True, there were five beds in one room and yeah it didn't have wifi, but honestly? I'm really glad it didn't or else we wouldn't have had as much fun as we did. Climbing through windows, dance parties, reenacting movies, uncontrollable laughter, Shrek, Anne dancing on the table... it was by far the best night yet.
