a parisian getaway.

This last weekend we had a break from classes and were able to go anywhere we want. So of course, without an ounce of hesitation, we packed our bags, traded biscuits for baguettes, & said bonjour to Paris!

Paris is full of so much amazing architecture, delicious food, & it's just a stunning city in general! [However, I will admit, after having traveled in the London Underground ("Tube"), the Paris Metro was a little bit dirtier. And by a little I mean it was way dirtier with graffiti-tagged walls and scummy stations. But hey! That's probably artistic to them;) ] Either way, it was so much fun being able to just explore all of the ins & outs of Paris. It's such a romantic city full of beauty and adventure, & we definitely took advantage of all of it:)

Last summer I had the opportunity to travel to France with my sister & parents and see many of the great sites Paris has to offer. And now look — it's been a year and I'm back! I would have never guessed that I would be given another chance to come back to this beautiful city so soon. This time around I just had a wonderful time relaxing, soaking up the Parisian air, & enjoying less site seeing and more picnics. It was lovely.

Tuileries Gardens behind the Louvre.

I probably ate 234,765 too many pastries while in Paris, but they were so divine that it would've been a sin not to.
This is the apartment that we stayed in last summer on the Isle St Louis; crazy I was able to go back!
Berthillon's ice cream... Oh baby. This is probably the best ice cream in France. Probably even in Europe. And ya know what, maybeee in the world. It's just that good.

Sacre Coeur was one of the few places that I didn't have a chance to visit last summer. It's beautiful! We didn't climb to the top of the dome, but we still had an amazing view from where we were.

"Stop! This is the Empire of the Dead"
The Catacombs. This was the other place I hadn't visited, and I'm SO glad we waited in line for 2+ hours to go! This underground tunnel is filled with bones on both sides of the walls, up to five feet high and 80 feet deep. It was a little creepy but far more intriguing and definitely worth a visit.

Versailles Palace & Gardens.

I had a wonderful time in Paris. The culture is so unique and even though there was a language barrier it was still fun attempting to talk to the locals. However, as magical as my time there was, I do have to say that London lies a little closer to my heart. Don't get me wrong, I love Paris. But after four fun-filled nights in Paris, once Sunday came around I was ready to pack my bags & head back to my "home away from home" — London:)

30 day challenge — mission accomplished.

I DID IT! 30 days. 30 outfits. 1 suitcase. Boom. Done. This challenge was actually quite a bit harder than I originally thought it would be. There were days when I really just wanted to not have to think about planning an outfit and just throw on a repeat, but nope! I stuck to it. A big thank you to everyone who took my PODs (Picture of the Day) [especially Jenna and Amber, you guys are wonderful!] and to all my readers [on my blog & instagram] who cheered me on and motivated me to keep going. You guys rock. So without further ado, I present the final six:)

After doing this challenge, I came to realize that fashion is soooo diverse. I've seen trendy fashionistas in not only London & Paris, but back home in places like Salem, OR and Provo, UT. Every one of these fashionistas take fashion and bring it to a whole new level by putting a unique spin on it. All of these people inspired me to try new things and gave me the courage to be a little more edgy! Another HUGE thing I learned after all of this: You can wear pieces of clothing in so many different ways. Really! You might look at your wardrobe and think of it as the same old, same old, but look again, my friends. Try pairing a skirt with a top you never would have imagined together, add a piece of accent jewelry, maybe some sheer tights or a new hairstyle, & vuala! A completely new look. I encourage all of you to attempt this 30 day challenge. It's tough! But it'll open your eyes to the world of fashion like you've never seen it before. I look forward to seeing all of your future fashion endeavors. Till then, peace & blessing. Peace. And. Blessings.

McKenna
